We provide long-term housing alternatives for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, offering safe, supportive living environments that promote independence and dignity.
Our residences allow adults to live as independently as possible in the communities of their choice, with access to:- 24/7 staff support
- Personalized care and daily living assistance
- Wellness-focused programs that enhance quality of life
At the New Ability Health Center, we believe everyone deserves a place to call home — and the support to thrive in it.
Our Future Housing Plan

Houston currently lacks dedicated housing options for adults with Chronic Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) — a population that includes individuals with mental illness, HIV/AIDS, autism, Asperger syndrome, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and visual impairments.
To address this critical gap, we are proposing to the City of Houston the development of a state-of-the-art, long-term, age-in-place residence designed specifically for adults with IDD.
This community-based housing will empower individuals to live as independently as possible while receiving the support they need to thrive. Our proposed facility will include:- 24/7 staff support
- Therapeutic and life skills programming
- A strong focus on wellness, safety, and quality of life
This initiative represents not just a building, but a lifeline for some of Houston’s most vulnerable residents.
